Hi! I’m Alexis, founder of M.O.R.E. Wellness and Hypnotherapy. I’ve spent my entire career helping people because it’s what I love to do. My professional career has spanned working as a high school counselor, advisor and teacher. Over the past couple of years I have become more specialized in my private practice where I help people as they work to improve their lives. Hypnotherapy has been an absolute game changer for me and I am passionate about its positive effects. I am a Certified Hypnotist, studying with the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in California, the first nationally accredited college and clinic of hypnotherapy in the USA. I am a professional member of the American Hypnosis Association.

The Core of M.O.R.E.

At the heart of my work is my passion to help people. My clients are people facing very real challenges, such as: feeling stuck, feeling shame, or feeling stressed and overwhelmed much of the time … experiencing a negative self-image, low confidence and little motivation … dealing with compulsive habits or addictive patterns they can’t get out of … and generally living with less of what they desire.

Fully embracing a new narrative, or inner script, is one of the most difficult challenges. Internalized stories can be tenacious, and longstanding diagnostic labels may have become a part of a person’s identity for years. The brain, mind and body have become accustomed to the sensations associated with past memories and stress. For many people, these internal sensory reactions have become so familiar that they are difficult to release…and replace… with desirable responses. Whether people wish to improve their self-talk, self-concept, relationship patterns or unwanted habits, hypnotherapy can help. With intention, sensitivity and support, life stories and everyday habits can be reworked and reframed over time.

Talk therapy (or psychotherapy) helps people explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors by talking about them. It can provide new perspectives and understandings that offer insight, direction and hope ... but in order to be transformative ... true change requires more than just intellectual awareness; it requires a deep, embodied shift. Individuals must experience these shifts at somatosensory levels, in addition to intellectual levels. "Somatosensory" refers to bodily sensations and feelings (e.g., tension, relaxation, feeling "lighter," a sense of safety). The idea is that the body holds on to past experiences and traumas, and intellectual understanding alone cannot shift these entrenched physical responses. Lasting change occurs when new, corrective emotional and physical experiences overwrite the old ones. This is exactly what using hypnosis can provide; a shifting of feelings and knowns within the body. Because our minds read our bodies; not the other way around.
